Hotter'N Hell Hundred
It's time to sign up for the 29th Annual Hotter'N Hell Hundred. NWCC
is going again this year. It promises to be another great weekend of
cycling, fun, and fraternizing. Friday thru Sunday - August 27, 28
and 29.
NWCC will provide round-trip transportation and reserve lodging for 24
Club members. THE FIRST 24 MEMBERS TO PAY THEIR $30 RESERVATION FEE
WILL GET THESE SPOTS. Your $30 covers the cost of lodging. The Club
provides transportation.
You'll need to mail a check to NW Cyclery, $30 payable to NWCC. Again, only 24
spots are available, so don't delay.
Don't forget to register for the Ride + Spaghetti Dinner at WWW.HH100.ORG.
$30 per person or $55 for family of 2.
We'll leave from NW Cyclery early that Friday morning. We'll travel
in two 16-person passenger vans. To make the trip more comfortable,
we'll only put 12 persons in each van. Your bike and gear will be
safely trailered behind one of the vans.
Lodging involves "indoor camping" at the Wichita Falls downtown YMCA,
paid by the Club. This Y is one of many area establishments that
opens its doors to HHH riders. You'll need to bring a cot or sleeping
bag.
Friday afternoon we'll visit the Consumer Show, watch the downtown
Criterium Race, and attend the Spaghetti Dinner. Saturday's pre-ride
breakfast is provided by the nice folks at the Y. For your riding
pleasure, you'll have your choice of 4 distances, including of course,
THE FAMOUS CENTURY. "Themed" rest stops are provided by the area
residents, and are quite entertaining. After the ride, we'll
celebrate at Finish Line Village, and then go out for dinner Saturday
night. We'll head back to Houston mid-morning Sunday.
Oh, I almost forget the best part. It happens on Saturday morning.
The national anthem, an Air Force fly-over and a big cannon-blast.
Now THAT'S the way to start a ride !!

What do I need to do to prepare?
If you aren't quite sure you're up to this endeavor, help is on the way.
Our Newsletter Editor, "Good Job" Bob Ward, has offered his services in preparing for the ride.
His plan is to leave Fairfield Elementary at 1:30 each Sunday afternoon leading up to HHH .
This coming weekend will commence with a round trip from Fairfield to Brookshire and back
which is about 70 miles. Those riders already used to extremes can go at any pace they choose.
His goal is work with those that are not used to riding in extreme heat and no rider will
be left alone to come in by themselves. This will give riders a chance to acclimate to hot
riding conditions and be prepared for a hot HHH.
It's been cooler the last few years so they are do for a hot one this year. If it
turns out to be more reasonable (not 100+) at Wichita Falls then riders can simply
celebrate the calories burned in the heat and the inches they have the potiential to lose.
